PV for All in the Greece-Albania Cross-Border Area

PV Specifications for the Cross-Border Area

The basic modern specifications for possible PV applications in the Greece-Albania cross-border region that can cover agricultural, domestic, and tertiary sector uses are presented.

Crystalline Silicon PV Panels

The total installed power should be greater than 99kWp and less than or equal to 100kWp.

PV Panels must be exclusively flat type, not centralized type and without the use of reflectors and mirrors.

For the purposes of the present, "PV Panels of the same type (Models)" are defined as PV Panels that, in relation to those offered, must meet the following conditions:

The PV Panels will be of the same type, namely:

  • of the same technology (monocrystalline or polycrystalline silicon) from the same manufacturer,
  • they will have the same external dimensions,
  • they will have the same number of PV cells (cells) of the same dimensions, in a similar electrical connection between them,
  • they will belong to the same series, as shown by the manufacturer's official categorization.

The PV Panels will be of monocrystalline or polycrystalline silicon technology, at least 72 cells and of the same nominal power, which will be at least 330 Wp each for optimal use of the available space.

PV Panels will meet the specifications of the international certification organization International Electrotechnical Commission, IEC 61215, IEC 61730-1, IEC 61730-2 or equivalent.

The PV panels will be accompanied by a performance guarantee for a period of twenty-five (25) years.

The PV panels will come with a 12-year factory product warranty.

The PV panels will come with a 25-year performance guarantee with:

  • energy efficiency of at least 97.50% in the 1st year, and
  • loss of performance of a maximum of 0.60 % per year (from the 2nd year to the 25th).

The PVs are characterized as "of the same type (Model)" if they meet all the above conditions, but they may have a different nominal power (Wp), for reasons that are solely due to the sorting (sorting) due to the flashing test.

In addition, the PV panels:

  • They will have CE certification from a competent body.
  • They will be certified for increased mechanical resistance to a snow load of 5400 Pa on the face and at least 2400 Pa for wind pressure.
  • They will have undergone a salt mist test according to IEC 61701, “Severity 6, Salt Mist corrosion Testing of Photovoltaic (PV) Modules”
  • They will have certification of fulfillment of the "Ammonia Resistance Test" according to IEC 62716.
  • they will have undergone a PID (Potential Induced Degradation) test, with the following conditions and criteria:
  • Time: 96 hours.
  • Relative humidity: 85%.
  • Positive and Negative Polarity: 1.000V.
  • Temperature: 85°C.

The PID test may have been conducted for photovoltaic panels of the manufacturing company that belong to the same category and have a different number or type of cells.

PV Panels will have a proper installation manual.

Maximum system voltage will be 1000V or 1500V.

The Temperature Power Derating Factor Pmax [%/ºC] shall not be greater in absolute value than 0.38.

The aluminum frame will be anodized.

There will be a place to ground the aluminum frame, for protection reasons.

The junction box must have at least IP67 characteristics.
